Born on 15th January 1989 in Kushinagar, Bihar, Manish Kumar hails from a modest background. His village had limited access to electricity and water until the mid-90s, and the region often suffered from Japanese Encephalitis outbreaks. However, these adversities built resilience and character in him.
Manish pursued B.Tech. in Industrial Engineering from REC Bhopal, where he emerged as a Gold Medalist and college topper. His excellent performance earned him a campus placement at BHEL, where he worked for two years before choosing to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
His family includes a father involved in farming and rural development, a homemaker mother, two younger brothers, and a revered grandfather who was a 1971 war veteran. His upbringing in a simple, backward village instilled strong values and purpose that he carried into his civil services journey.
