Nishant Jain was born on 30 October 1986 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and is 38 years old as of 2025. He comes from a humble middle-class background. His grandfather was a Junior Court Officer, and his grandmother always emphasized the value of education. His father studied up to Class 10, and his mother was an Arts graduate. Nishant is married to Suhani Jain.

Nishant completed his B.A. in English from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, followed by a PG Diploma in Translation from IGNOU. He pursued higher studies in Hindi Literature, completing both M.Phil. and Ph.D. from University of Delhi. His strong academic base and love for language played a major role in shaping his civil services journey.
