Avhad Nivrutti Somnath was born on 7 August 1989 in Guwanch village, Nashik district, Maharashtra. He is 36 years old as of 2025. His father Somnath and mother Manda are both farmers. He also has three sisters. Family support played a key role in his UPSC journey.
He completed B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune. After that, he worked for three years in a private company. Later, he cleared the MPSC exam and joined as a Sales Officer in the ministry in Mumbai.

Nivrutti appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Exam five times. After not clearing the exam in 2016, 2017, and 2018, he was selected in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 2019.
