Early Life And Education Qualification Of Athar Aamir IAS
Athar Aamir was born on 5 September 1992 in Devipora-Mattan village, located in Anantnag district, Jammu & Kashmir. His father, Mohammad Shafi Khan, teaches economics at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Anantnag, while his mother is a homemaker. He has a younger brother and two younger sisters.
Athar’s first wife was Tina Dabi, IAS (AIR 1, 2015). They met during UPSC events and training, married in 2018, and divorced in 2021. He later married Dr. Mehreen Qazi, a doctor and well-known social media personality. The couple welcomed their baby boy Ehaan in June 2024.
Education Details
Athar completed his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT and later pursued M.A. in Public Management from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His early schooling was from Tyndale Biscoe School, Srinagar, one of the reputed schools in the Kashmir Valley.
Love Story and Personal Life
Athar Aamir’s love story became one of the most talked-about moments in UPSC history. He met Tina Dabi, who had topped the 2015 UPSC exam, at a felicitation ceremony in Delhi. Their bond grew stronger during their training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, where they travelled together to Paris, Rome, and the Netherlands.

They got married on 20 March 2018 in a court ceremony in Jaipur and followed it with a traditional marriage function on 7 April 2018 at Pahalgam Club, Kashmir. However, the couple parted ways and got legally divorced in 2021.
In 2022, Athar married Dr. Mehreen Qazi, a doctor and social media personality known for her work and medical awareness posts. In June 2024, the couple welcomed their son, Ehaan.
