He is married to Usha Ghildiyal, a former senior scientist at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She gave up her government post to dedicate herself to voluntary teaching in Rudraprayag, focusing on uplifting students in remote government schools. Her selfless efforts in education have set a glowing example of social responsibility, and together, the couple shares a son.
